These classes are a great introduction into watercolor techniques for botanical art. We will explore specific botany for each class including succulents, prickly pear blossoms and prickly pears through a beautiful medium that has been used in botanical art and illustration for centuries.

Main Concepts:

  • Basics in color application with watercolor

  • Discover organic shapes and line contour

  • Shadows, Highlights & gradients.

  • Positive and Negative space

Tools Needed:

  • Pencil/Eraser

  • Watercolor

  • Round Brushes (at least one small and one medium- I use a 4 and a 6 for these classes)

  • Watercolor paper (90lb-140lb hot or cold press)

  • Photos of Botany (A few photos will be sent out the week of class)
