The Sonoran Desert School Gardener's Almanac
In the Spring of 2024 I had the honor of teaming up with the School Garden Workshop Team to illustrate their 2024/2025 Sonoran Desert School Gardeners’ Almanac. I worked in creating over sixty spot illustrations along with five coloring pages specific with the seasons of he Sonoran Desert. I also illustrated the front and back cover. More than a dozen community authors contributed to the book. Almanac Designed by Sharayah Jimenez Design.

The Sonoran Desert School Gardener's Almanac is a free resource for teachers, students, and the community at large funded by the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation. It is an annual publication that is designed to connect teachers and learners to the Sonoran Desert, its food systems, and communities. We partner with local knowledge holders, artists, and organizations to be sure this resource reflects this special region we call home. Our goal with the almanac project is that it will give voice to community members who have long been under-represented yet hold valuable knowledge and skills in growing food and using plants medicinally. By elevating community voice and cultural relevance, school garden practices become more potent and are more likely to make it into the homes of K-12 students.
