Botanical Art in Pen & Ink: Sketching Desert Wildflowers | ZOOM

This class is a great introduction to pen & ink techniques using botany as our main subject. The specific theme for this class: desert wildflowers. The tools and techniques shared in this workshop will be beneficial to creating beautiful florals on the go while we brush up on our drawing skills. This is a fun warmup class that can potentially help get you out and about to document wildflowers in person!

Main Concepts:

  • Line weights/widths

  • Variety of Pen Strokes

  • Line contour/Line Control/Hand & Eye Coordination

Materials Needed:

  • 2H or 2B pencil, eraser (Streader), kneaded eraser & ruler

  • Pens (Copic Multi-liners or Micron) #.1, .3, & .5

  • Colored Pencils (Any brand is fine. Prisma will be used)

  • Optional: Watercolors

  • Sketch book. Sizes between 3”x5” – 5”x7” Blank pages. (Moleskin, Global art, etc)

  • Photo of Desert Penstemon Blooms (A few photos will be sent out with the Zoom link email before class)

Zoom Online class participants will receive a Zoom link for the live class two hours before the class begins.
